Thank you for going Beyond together with us!

Over the years, we at Dentsply Sirona have built a strong Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) platform, our clinical education program has reached over 470,000 people from 97 countries, we have progressed our Diversity & Inclusion strategy and we are committed to reducing our environmental impact. For these efforts, we were recently named by Newsweek and Statista one of “America’s Most Responsible Companies 2021”.

But it shouldn’t stop there – when we look at the world today, with its mounting environmental problems, continuing social injustice and inequality, we know that we need to go beyond what has been done in the past and accelerate how we create positive change and lead the dental industry forward.

It is with great pleasure, therefore, that at DS World we have announced the official launch of our comprehensive new sustainability strategy as well as the release of our inaugural sustainability report, Beyond. Taking Action for a Brighter World. With our first-ever sustainability report, we’re setting a baseline for our sustainability goals moving forward and outlining the steps we’re taking to achieve and surpass those targets. Our future-focused “Beyond” strategy is driven by three key pillars of action – Healthy Planet, Healthy Smiles and Healthy Business – each with ambitious goals and targets, including:

Achieving 5 million smiles by 2025 by empowering dental professionals, communities, patients, and our employees
Reaching Net Zero carbon emissions (Scopes 1-3) by 2050
Working to achieve gender parity and global gender pay parity by 2025 and US ethnicity inclusion goals
Continuing to pioneer developments in clinician education to meet the needs of customers
Increasing year-on-year our R&D spend

As a leader in oral health, we also want to bring the rest of the dental industry with us on this journey to a more sustainable future. We’ve signed on as a Founding Partner in the FDI World Dental Federation’s “Sustainability in Dentistry” initiative, joining GSK Consumer Healthcare, Procter & Gamble, Colgate and TePe, to create a Code of Good Practice, which will provide guidelines and objectives for achieving a sustainable procurement and supply process throughout the dental industry. The partnership will equip dentists and their teams with the tools and resources they need to improve sustainability in their practices, while informing patients about their personal role in contributing to sustainability in dentistry.

At DS World we also launched our new partnership with Smile Train, which aims to improve oral health for children around the world affected by clefts. By developing and outfitting state-of-the-art treatment centers and implementing local training initiatives, this collaborative effort seeks to ensure children have lasting local access to the best healthcare possible and that the benefits of that work are felt for many years to come. To support our partnership, we have also announced a $ 5 million donation to Smile Train.

Solving big challenges requires a big commitment and we’re proud of the steps we’re taking in going Beyond ordinary to create a more sustainable future. We are also proud and wanted to take the opportunity to say THANK YOU to all of you who already joined us at DS world in making the world a brighter place!
